Real People Real Progress
From a young age, ballet has been a significant part of my life; however, as with any athletic activity, injuries are very common. I’ve experienced several dance related injuries throughout my years of training and have often been left feeling frustrated due to the orthodox approach of many physical therapists who don’t specialize in dance. However…under Holly’s guidance, I have grown stronger at a rapid pace, have learned how to control my placement as a dancer, thus preventing injuries in the future, and have grown to appreciate the process of healing and rehabilitation. Since the very first day of rehab with Holly, she has been kind, positive, and understanding, as well as thorough in her approach. I never imagined myself saying this, but I have enjoyed this rehabilitation experience. During the process, I’ve learned not only how to strengthen and heal the precise location of an injury, but also the surrounding areas, in order to prevent further injury or re-injury. I definitely recommend her to dancers and non-dancers alike!
I started physical therapy because of a shoulder subluxation (dislocation) and shoulder pain. I was having trouble dancing, which is a problem for a choreographer! Holly helped to stabilize my shoulder and got me dancing again just as she did a few years ago when I had a foot injury. Holly is a great therapist for dancers, and was very responsive and helpful for this injury. Thanks!
Being a dancer/dance teacher for 35 out of my 40 years began to take its toll on my body early this year. What a scary thought, that my livelihood could be in jeopardy. As I sat in my Doctor’s office wondering what to do she immediately suggested physical therapy with Holly. I was relieved and elated to know that Holly once was a dancer herself. From the moment I met her (on Halloween, dressed as a clown…haha…awesome!!) I knew she’d be the perfect physical therapist for me and she was!! Knowing that she was a dancer put my mind at ease. Her time and dedication to helping me feel better was reassuring and the whole idea of me not being able to dance or teach for another 20+ years began to fade!! Her ability to add exercises that were designed specifically for dancers was extremely helpful!! Thank you Holly for making this physical therapy experience an awesome one!!
Dr. Holly significantly helped my daughter after her bilateral ankle surgeries. Holly’s experience as a professional dancer allowed her to customize the PT to help get my daughter back on pointe. Highly recommended! All serious dancers should work closely with a physical therapist for injury prevention, maintenance, and rehab if needed.
I started coming to Robbins Rehabilitation just a couple of months ago, but I feel like I’ve been here for years. I’m a dancer and I have had knee problems for a portion of my dance career. Because of that, I have tried out other physical therapists but it never truly fixed the problem. Fortunately for me, my mom found Holly online and since then everything has been getting better. Being a dancer herself, she really knows what specific areas to work on to actually fix my problems. Since I’ve been going to Holly, not only has she helped with the pain, my dancing has gotten better and I feel like a stronger dancer. More specifically, Holly does an exercise that helps with turn out, and she knows what muscles you have to target. This has helped me tremendously during ballet class. Now I can even go through a whole dance class without having to stop due to knee pain, and I don’t have to wear my knee brace anymore which is a big help. On top of being an awesome physical therapist, she really cares about you as a patient and makes every visit very enjoyable. Due to my experience, I would highly recommend Holly if you are a dancer who needs physical therapy. Having a physical therapist that danced is a must because she knows what dancers go through and what targets the pain. With her, you’ll be back to dancing in no time and stronger than ever before.
